“When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace. - Jimi Hendrix”

Social Justice. What does it mean? Social justice is a concept of fair and just relations between the individual and society. I'm one out of many high school students that makes it their mission to strive for change. Change within our communities, our schools, our rights. Being an African- American woman attending a predominately white school has both challenged and helped me. Not being able to express my true authentic self in school has only pushed me to do more in my community and help my peers.

These are some of the projects I've been apart of :

I was one of the three individuals to lead our schools national gun walkout. It took a lot of coordinating with our principal and teachers. Clubs like Black student Union, LGBTQ+ community, feminist unite all played such a big role in what took place. The experience was very liberating because everyone came together for one common goal and I couldn’t be happier.

CORO YLA is a program that brings together 24 students from all five boroughs. This program allows us to partner with the department of education to discuss school reforms, polices, climate and culture. Once you are apart of this program you represent your schools region. I’m now one representative of Brooklyn South Youth.
